What’s Coming Up

Just registered for the Triangle Game Conference that is being held April 7th and 8th in Raleigh, North Carolina. There will be teaching sessions and a career fair. The career fair is what I am most looking forward to, since I will be graduating this December and would like to have a job afterwords.

Getting Prepared

To have the best presentation as a hire-able individual I will need to have somethings before I go to this conference.

  • Demo Reel
  • Online Portfolio
  • Portfolio Disc
  • Business Cards
  • Something to Set Me Apart

Demo Reel

This is a good way for me to demonstrate my key work in a short period of time. It will be good for my portfolio site, and the discs.

Online Portfolio

This is essential. I believe the best way for me to do this is to polish up my current site, to make displaying my portfolio foremost.

Portfolio Disc

I am thinking this would be a good thing to have a a career fair. So that I could hand it out to potential employers. Although I wish I could think of a better way to do this. I would essentially have my portfolio in disc form.

Business Cards

I am thinking this would be another good thing to have to be able to hand out. Something simple with contact info on it.

Something to Set Me Apart

I think I need something to set me apart from the rest of the students there looking for jobs. So I stick in people’s heads. Instead of just another face in polo, jeans, knows how to use PS, Maya, etc. I know I can produce good work, but what is going to convince someone to look at it? Hmmm, I will have to think about that one.

Final Thoughts

Lots of work to do. Pair that with a super busy semester. Fun stuff. Hopefully there will be enough of a slow down after mid-terms that I can get this stuff done.

I also need people’s opinions and suggestions. Am I missing something, is there something else I should be doing? Is there something I shouldn’t be doing? Something I could do better?

Thanks for all the help and support.

It has been a few weeks since MW2 came out. I have had the chance to play through the whole campaign, some of the co-op, and a good sampling of most of the game types, and all of the maps on Multiplayer. (more…)

Macbook Pro Radeon x1600 and Windows 7

// November 13th, 2009 // No Comments » // Gaming, Uncategorized

Just went through a lot today to get my video drivers update for my macbook pro on windows 7. I thought maybe some other people might be having the same problem. here is the walk through i followed:  http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/333-63-macbook-radeon-mobility-x1600

By the way, I did this to fix the bug in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 that makes all the text unreadable.

if you have any questions just put them in the comment box and i will try to answer.

Also, i did this with the 9.3 Drivers instead of the 9.8 ones. It just kinda happened that way. If your going to use the 9.3 drivers choose the top option. The 9.3 drivers are working great for me, so i dont want to risk doing it again with the 9.8

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition not coming out for PC

// October 7th, 2009 // No Comments » // Gaming

So I learned yesterday that MW2 Prestige Edition (PE) is not coming out for PC. I was kind of upset. I am a PC gamer, and I love COD. Why would they not put out the PE for their largest, and most devoted audience? (more…)

Left 4 Dead… the basics

// October 2nd, 2009 // No Comments » // Gaming

I’m popping on here to give a quick run down of some L4D tactics, mostly for my friend David.

Stay together, I cannot emphasize how important this is, never go off on your own.

Use melee… a lot. The melee will get the zombies push the zombies off so you can have some breathing room. You can melee at the same time that you reload, it doesn’t interrupt reloading. Meleeing a zombie in the back while he/she doesn’t know you are there will kill them instantly. (more…)
